Crochet Amigurumi Highland Cow

In this Make and Take, we're going to make a start at crocheting this super cute Highland Cow!

You need to already know how to crochet single crochet stitches (SC)!

You'll learn how to increase and decrease stitches and start from a magic ring.

When: 2 Wednesdays April 17 and April 24  from 5:30pm-7:30pm 
Pattern and yarn (Scheepjes River Washed XL and Stone Washed XL) will be provided.

Please bring a 4.5mm hook!

Makes a 16cm/6.3" amigurumi

Get to Know Your Sewing Machine

You will also learn to sew a variety of basic seams.

This is a 2 hour class.

Two-at-once Toe Up Socks

This class is for the knitter who has successfully knit at least one pair of socks before and has a fair bit of prior knitting experience.

From the toe up means you can try them on as you go to get the best fit and use all your yarn without fear of wasting any or running out. Magic looping means you don’t need to use DPNs ever again. You will cover principles of toe-up construction, toe-up cast on, working a heel, stretchy cast-off, and the magic loop technique, and have a full pattern to take home and learn to knit TWO SOCKS AT THE SAME TIME!

Class 1: Casting on two toes, increasing and knitting the magic loop method
Homework: use time in between classes to knit to the point of heel turning
Class 2: Turning the heel
Homework: use time in between classes to knit to the point of ribbing and bind off
Class 3: resolving issues, stretchy bind off

Must know how to knit in the round ON CIRCULAR NEEDLES and distinguish between knit and purl stitches;
materials not included.

Socks can be an intimidating project, but they're so much fun to knit!
Before you know it you'll be addicted to knitting them.

In these classes you'll learn:

Class 1
1. Working with circular needles and the Magic Loop and starting the cuff.

2. Dividing for the heel flap and knitting the heel flap

Use the time in between classes to knit the rest of the heel flap (must do homework)

Class 2
3. Turning the heel
4. Working the gusset

Use the time in between classes to knit to the toe (must do homework).

Class 3
5. Toe shaping
6. Kitchener stitch (grafting the toe)

You'll need:

100g of worsted weight yarn (200m), 1 circular needle 3.75mm/US5, 80cm long (available to buy at the store).

We'll be making short socks, the goal is to learn the techniques!

You'll learn the absolute beginnings of weaving on a 4 harness table loom and you'll have a scarf at the end of the course.

Your teacher will help you through the moves and will provide you with the basic skills to start weaving.
